At the stroke of midnight, Frama-12 came into the world. Since everybody wants to know the height and weight of newborns, my healthy little novel weighed in at six ounces and is eight inches tall.
I decided to welcome and introduce my little bundle through pictures.

Early morning notice of “baby’s” birth

A month before publication day, we had a “baby shower”.
I knew I wanted balloons that matched the colors from the book cover but needed to figure out how I’d display them. Due to the limited number of red, yellow, and blue balloons, I practiced with pink and purple. Once we found the perfect frame and I’d positioned the book cover balloons on it, I gave the purple and pink ones to the students from our Graphic Arts program. Despite their expressive faces, these balloons were not invited to the party.

Next, my handy helpers carried the frame down the hall to the party room. Not an easy task, considering the frame wanted to come apart during the moving process.

You can’t have a party without cake. I’ll admit, though, it looked a little like a new baker frosted it. Still, it tasted delicious. I was also relieved that she didn’t spell out the number 12. And of course, you can’t have a baby shower without the proud Mama … proud for not gaining any “baby” weight.

At the “shower” I played a video (sadly not a book trailer) followed by a reading from the book.

Frama-12 took years to become the paperback and eBook that was born today. That’s why I am grateful to so many people: my sister and her family, who got to read an early-early version, my critiquing group for their suggestions and encouragement, all my friends at work for their support, and everyone who preordered the book.
Now, I’d like to propose a toast. Please raise your glasses to little Frama. “May her story entertain and give you a smile, and when you finish the book, here’s hoping you’ll want more.”
Because “more” is coming. My favorite editor, Jo, and I will begin edits to Book Two next week. Cheers!
For a review of my book, please check out my good friend Gemma L. Brook’s blog post.
On behalf of Frama-12, thanks again, and happy reading!
I love the “baby pictures,” Aud, and it looks like a fun book shower! What a fun idea. 😀 Which is only fitting, because Frama-12 is a fun book. So cool you had so many people help out and attend your shower. 😊
Welcome to the world, Frama-12! 😄
Thanks, Gemma!
How lovely, Aud! New book “births” should always be celebrated. Congratulations! Wishing you all the best!
Thanks, so much, Mary!
Many congratulations! What a lovely way to announce your book baby!
Thanks, Kim. This was my first “baby shower” for a book. I feel fortunate that the principal at the school where I work understands my eccentricities and allowed me to have it there. 🙂
