Party Talk

This isn’t your typical party.

Questions to consider:

What type of party would balloons attend?

What scared the guy in the upper left of the picture?

What kind of relationship do the two balloons in the foreground have?

What is the guy on the lower left scheming?

Prompt #4:

Yo, Snowman

Write about this snowman.

Questions to consider:
Is he a tiny snowman sitting in a  normal-sized hand, or a normal-sized snowman sitting in a giant’s hand?
How’d he get there?
Who made him? What will happen to him next?

Prompt #3:

Holding Hands

Write a short story about these two people.

Questions to consider:
What is the relationship between them? Husband/Wife? Son/Mother? Caregiver/Client?
What is the significance of the woman’s necklace?
Where are they? Are they happy to be there?

The Cabin in the Woods

Set your timer to ten minutes and write a short-short story that takes place in this cabin.

Questions to consider:
Is this a permanent residence or vacation cabin?
Who is staying here – one person or more?
What happened?

Prompt #1:

Fiction from the Heart

Write a short story based on the following information:

A man, bringing a heart-shaped box of chocolates, visits a woman and her nine-year-old son. Both mother and son are happy to see him.

If the woman is a likable character, how will your story change if the woman’s husband is still in her life?

Questions to consider:
Where is the husband when the other man visits?
What type of man is the woman’s husband?
Who is the nine-year-old boy’s father?
